Professional Recognition
Introduction
To practise as a professional accountant in Australia, graduates are required to become a member of one of the three professional accounting bodies: CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or the National Institute of Accountants.
The Department of Accounting and Business Information Systems does not recommend one professional body. Instead students are encouraged to research prospective employers and compare their preference with the stated aims of the the professional bodies.
The subjects listed under each of the Professional Bodies are the requirements of the specific Bodies and may not include the requirements to complete a Bachelor of Commerce. Students must check carefully that they have completed any required pre-requisites prior to attempting any subject.
